Bodyshell

Complete strip down, shot blast, replacement of rusted floor, panels, holes etc particularly around windscreen pillars, rear quarters and wheel well. Gearbox tunnel fabricated. Changed to LHD from RHD. Handbrake moved to centre of car. All suspension pick up points double plated and welded. Laminated front windscreen. Heated rear windscreen. Screen retaining tabs. Front and rear bulkheads fibreglassed to prevent flame/fluid ingress. Fuel, brakes and electric lines inside. Volvo factory pattern sumpguard in 6mm sheet aluminium, strengthend to 12mm with ribs in places. Similar for rear fuel tank guard. Large capacity screen washer reservoir in boot. Bespoke instrument layout and centre console including speedo, rev counter, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, voltmeter, fuel level (top tank), fuel level (bottom tank). Resprayed and Waxoyled (latter more than once in intervening years).

5 main bearing crankshaft Mahle pistons - new 2007 - matching weights. Uprated pushrods. Lightened cam followers
Lightened steel flywheel (8kg). Crank, rods, pistons balanced
Bespoke camshaft, equivalent to Volvos ‘K’ cam but with more torque. Steel camshaft drive drop gears
Steel oil pump with stainless steel collar around drive tangs
Neoprene front and rear oil seals.Ported and flowed cylinder head with larger diameter 44mm inlet valves. 4-branch tubular steel exhaust manifold. Twin 40DCOE Weber carburettors on aluminium inlet manifold. Optical distributor. Measured as giving 149bhp at flywheel, 127bhp at rear wheels
